Welcome to What is a Normal Life!

Hello all,

I am William Iles a Normal guy who wanted to start a blog about the "normal" things we all encounter in life - Family, School, Kids, Travel, WORK : < ((, politics, places we live, investing - well you get the point, I will cover just about any topic. I considers this process part cathartic, in that I get a space to realease thoughts, feelings and general stuff running through my head. I consider this a lot like journaling and sometimes the posts may be similiar in feel but hopefully with some snipets of intersting material.

I welcome you all to my Blog, I will try to promote it so the world can share (frankly I'll be happy if just some other people find this blog!) but overall I find this a place to drop my thoughts on a myriad of issues that any normal person experiences everyday, it seems normal to us all as individuals but I find there is a sense of community that is bridged when people with similar thoughts and situations meet. This is in my opinon the single biggest power the internet has delievered to the world. The ease of free thinking individuals to meet at least virtually.

Now a little about me, it is however my blog ; > )))

I am Married (13 years this June!) to my wonderful Wife Denise, We have one precious child Emily Rose and we live in Brentwood, Ca (No not the OJ Brentwood!) We live i nthe Corn Capital of California about 50 miles east of San Francisco, Ca and about 70 miles south of Sacramento.

I am active in city government as a nominated member of a satelite community based committee for the city of Brentwood called BANC. I work in Oakland, Ca for a prestigous National Laboratory as a facility manager. this primarily means I am responsible for keeping millions of dollars worth of computer equipment cold and powered up. It is a "normal" set of responsibilities with the usual cast of characters involved.

I primarily watch only a few channels of Television anymore as all Broadcast TV has lost me forever I think, I find primarily that i simply don't have the time to invest in watching TV shows regularly anymore and frankly they just don't make them as good as "A-Team" these days.

I like to watch Discovery channel, History channel, Travel channel, TLC, Food TV (Not Emeril!).

My daughter enjoys Disney channel, PBS Sprout and the Cartoon Network.

My wife is a Soap Opera Queen, American Idol fanatic (although I think the show jumped the shark and is thankfully on it's way to cancellation!) and will watch just about any music or dance related reality show.

I commute about 45 miles to work each way each day, not uncommon for a "normal" American, Gas is making me go broke and my house is not worth as much as I owe on it, I figure this is pretty standard fare for most normal people.

I also just recently loss my grandmother (a definite topic for future blogs) and have become very interested in Geneology.

I hope this blog will help people realize that while they feel there life is just "normal" it is really a fantastic gift, we have been given for only a relatively short time a literal "blink of an eye" in cosmic terms. What the world (see media) would postulate a fruitless endeavor because of a percieved lack of impact in a grand scale from each of us "normal" people in reality we hold the power to accomplish anything as long as enough of us wish to pursue the goal and can unite people together in these directions. I don't think "normal" people often realize that what the traditional media has done is to foster separation and even more so separist ideologies. I hope through the power of the internet we can realize the errors and manipulation of the "mass media monopoly" and in some small way serve to connect ordinary people together in common themes and streams of thought.

I think over the next decade the power of the internet is going to drastically change the world, the free flow of infomation among people of all nations is the truest form of Democracy.

Well - Welcome to my blog hope to see you around at least in the virtual world : > )
